March into our…Crunchy Munchy Vegetable & Fruit Campaign.
March is National Nutrition Month and to celebrate our school is launching the Crunchy Munchy Vegetable and Fruit Campaign. During the month of March, our school will be promoting the importance of eating more vegetables and fruit every day.
Studies show that many Canadian children are not eating enough vegetables and fruit. Vegetables and fruit are excellent sources of vitamins and mineral, phytochemicals and dietary fibre. Research shows that eating vegetables and fruit every day can help reduce the risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes and some types of cancer.
During the month of March we will be doing some of the following activities:
- Smoothie workshops
- Tasty Tuesdays – Vegetable and fruit tasting opportunities
- Daily PA announcements about fruit and vegetables
- Healthy Selfie bulletin board
Talk to your children about the fun activities that will be happening throughout March, and the importance of including vegetables and fruits in our snacks and meals as much as we can!
