We hope that everyone has enjoyed their time with family and friends, and we welcome our many new families to our school! Staff members have been working diligently to prepare for a new school year, which begins on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
FIRST DAY PROCEDURES:
Upon arrival on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, students in grade 1- 6 will gather in the playground at the back of the school. Class lists will be posted on chart paper with the grade, teacher name and students first name & last initial. Teachers will meet students in their lines. If it rains, students in grade 1- 6 will gather in the gym, with the above procedure.
Kindergarten students will gather in the Kindergarten yard where teachers will meet them. Class lists will also be posted. If it rains, the teachers will guide students into their kindergarten rooms from that yard.
Students will find out the name of their teacher on Tuesday morning.
SCHOOL DAY:
8:55 a.m. Supervision Begins
9:10 a.m. Classes Begin
10:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Morning Recess
12:05 p.m. – 12:25 p.m. Lunch
12:25 p.m. – 1:05 p.m. Lunch Recess
2:25 p.m. – 2:40 p.m. Afternoon Recess
3:40 p.m. Dismissal
MORNING AND END OF DAY PROCEDURES:
For busing, please check the transportation website for eligibility and route information at www.schoolbuscity.com. Please remember the Kiss & Ride is used for a quick drop off and pick up. If you are getting out of the car to accompany your child, please park your car in the designated parking spots. There is NO PARKING in the Kiss & Ride area.
STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATES:
We have a Safe Arrival Program here at St. Thomas Aquinas. If your child will be absent or late please call our Safe Arrival reporting line at 1-855-856-7862 or visit the website: go.schoolmessenger.ca .
If you should have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school at 905- 476-7784. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Your child’s teacher will distribute more information next week.
