Pause to Play Challenge: April 20-24, 2020

Spring is here, which means it’s time to pause to PLAYThe annual pause to PLAY challenge in York Region schools encourages students to put TVs, gaming devices, tablets and computers on “pause” for one full week (Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24) and become more physically active. The challenge is run annually in partnership with York Region Public Health and we have registered our school to participate.  We will be submitting our scoresheets to York Region Public Health, for a chance to win fun prizes.

We hope you’ll support your kids to pause to PLAY. Parents can join in at home — challenge the whole family! Check out these tips on reducing screen time:

  • Place limits on screen time
  • Avoid using screen-time as reward or punishment
  • Role modelling by following these tips yourself
  • Create screen-free bedrooms
  • Turn screens off during meals
  • Offer fun alternatives to screen time
  • Know how often you should be moving
  • Improve your physical literacy
