Orange Shirt Day (September 30th) is a day when we honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada and learn more about the history of those schools. September 30th falls during the time of year when Indigenous children were taken away to residential schools.
School Councils play a vital role in the education system in Ontario. They provide a forum through which parents and other members of the school community can contribute to improving student achievement and school performance. The councils focus is on student learning, setting school priorities and promoting meaningful parental and community involvement by actively seeking the views of the school community.
